The collection includes four photographs of groups of Cypriot statuettes and fragments propped against and on stacked books; a fifth group of three figures leans against a mud wall. Also included are a view of a barrel vaulted structure, and another of the facade of the former St. Nicholas Cathedral (now Lala Mustafa Paşa Mosque) in Famagusta.

Claude-Sosthène Grasset d'Orcet was a French amateur archaeologist, philologist, and cryptologist. He had a sustained interest in Cypriot archaeology and participated in the earliest French excavations of Cyprus with Ernest Renan and Melchior de Vogüé (1861-1862).
